The potential deal, running from July 2025 to June 2030, would demonstrate Chiefs’ commitment to nurturing homegrown talent while pursuing experienced strikers for next season.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi initially proposed a three-year deal for Hlongwane. However, insiders stated that the club later decided to extend the offer to five years, solidifying their faith in the promising striker.
“What I can tell you is the five-year deal is the one believed to have been agreed upon by all parties. Yes, the first time it was apparently proposed for a three-year deal but the club felt they needed to keep the striker for a long time so that’s why, finally, they came up with a five-year contract. This one is as good as done. I don’t think there will be any changes now,” the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second insider disclosed that while Hlongwane has been training and traveling with the first team on occasions, he will finish the current season with the DDC side as they aim for their first-ever DStv Diski Challenge title.

“What he has signed is a five-year professional contract which starts in July this year and although he has been training with the first team and sometimes traveling with them, he is going to continue with the DDC team for the remainder of the season then apparently join the first team on their pre-season camp,” the second insider revealed.
Hlongwane has been in prolific form this season, scoring goals and helping Chiefs’ DDC team secure top position on the log so far. His impressive performances earned him a place in the Bafana Bafana CHAN squad that eliminated Egypt in the qualifiers. He had also shone during the Carling All Stars match against Magesi FC, where he won the Man of the Match award. Hlongwane scored two goals as the All Stars beat the Carling Knockout champions 3-0.
Soccer Laduma contacted Kaizer Chiefs but the club did not respond to requests for comment at the time of publishing this story.
