72-year-old Mamelodi Gogo plays soccer like a pro

A 72-year-old Mamelodi Gogo Sarah Shonisani is challenging senior citizens to join her soccer team and get rid of all unnecessary ailments and stress.

GOGO SHONISANI SHOWS OFF HER SOCCER SKILLS

Gogo Sara Shonisani, who plays defender, says she is over 70 but she can give any young man or woman a run for his money.

Her day starts with a run in the morning, then she comes home, bath, and eats her porridge before taking her high blood medication.

SOCCER KEEPS SENIOR CITIZENS FIT AND HEALTHY

“I have no other ailments, and my high blood pressure is stable because I play soccer and I’m fit.”

Gogo Shonisani founded the Mamelodi Shonisani Soccer Team in team in 2010 after the Fifa World Cup Soccer.

“I play defender because I love the backline and stop the opposition from scoring,” she laughed.

This energetic and bubbly lady challenges all senior citizens who love soccer or want to keep fit to join us on the field.

GOGO SHONISANI SAYS SOCCER IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH

“This is a very good excise, and it takes away all ailments, chronic diseases, and stress.

“Our senior citizens used to complain about getting tired quickly and having joint pains, and they used to visit clinics and hospitals frequently, but now they are healthier and happy.”

Gogo Shonisani said men and women should stop sitting around at home idle, and those drinking must abandon their bad habits and join the team.

THE SOCCER TEAM STARTS TRAINING IN FEBRUARY

Shonisani says the team is opening up on 13 February 2023 for recruits, and she hopes there will be significant interest.

“We are open to people from 35. I am the eldest player in the team, but I don’t have to stand back for anyone.”

“Come join us and meet new friends; because this is a team sport, you will also feel needed and appreciated.”

MEET NEW FRIENDS ON THE SOCCER FIELD

Shonisani says they are looking for new fresh blood to come and show off their dribbling skills.

Gogo Shonisani she says they play many friendly games with neighbouring townships, which is always one of their highlights.

The Shonisani Soccer Team trains at the Mamelodi West Muckleneuk Sports Grounds on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8:00 to 9: 00.
