Crop Comments: Following a 7-2 win over Bay, Rocky River climbs to the top spot in the penultimate edition of the rankings. The Pirates remain the only area side with a perfect record to this point, with real promise to make a deep postseason push in Division II in their Region 6 district. … Avon Lake and Bay played a head-to-head match last week resulting in a tie, and both have lost to the Pirates. Avon Lake gets the edge here with one loss to Bay’s two being the deciding factor. The Shoregals and Rockets both have tough opponents in their respective brackets, with Strongsville a potential district final match for Avon Lake and Copley and Bay having a rematch in a district final if they advance to that point. … Firelands holds steady, but Avon moves up a spot to set up a No. 2 vs No. 5 match with Avon Lake on Oct. 11. This will be for the conference title, with last year’s matchup being the first SWC game played. Now, this will make for an intriguing final regular season match. … Rounding out the top 10 are Vermilion, Oberlin, Open Door, Amherst and Westlake. Vermilion and Open Door each dropped a single spot each after taking losses, but no one drops out of the Top 10 this week.

Note: Records as of games played through Oct. 7
