ALEXANDRIA – Alexandria junior Avery Hanson is one of the very few players to be selected to join the EXACT 11 International Program.
According to a press release dated Nov. 16, 2023, “This highly competitive endeavor singles out the country’s top athletes. Hanson was chosen from thousands of nominees put forth by college coaches during the acclaimed EXACT College Showcase Camps.”
Hanson, currently an impressive forward and midfield player for both her high school in Alexandria and with the Xolos Club, will embark on a journey to Spain (from Dec. 8-16, 2023) and England (March 25 – April 2, 2024). She has the unique opportunity to train and compete with professional clubs abroad, enhancing her skills and experience to potentially further her playing career post-high school.
From her start in soccer as a youngster, Hanson frequently stood out, showcasing a tireless commitment to training, learning, and going the extra mile to improve. Her consistent dedication led her to participate in the University of Minnesota ID camp and ultimately to represent the Minnesota ODP team.
Hanson’s achievements stretch beyond athletic prowess, showcasing her talents in the academic sphere with a 3-year high school achievement award among her honors. This aligns her with the best of the best, a group only the EXACT 11 program can truly appreciate and cultivate.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
