Pitt Men’s Soccer thrashed Cleveland State 4-0 on the road on Tuesday, riding a brace from Luis Sahmkow for the second time in as many games.
The No. 2 ranked Panthers (6-1, 2-0 ACC) dominated in both volume and efficiency, leading 12-2 in total shots and 6-0 on shots on target, four of which ended up hitting the twine. Making the second start of his collegiate career after picking up four assists in Pitt’s first six games, freshman Lasse Dahl found the back of the net for the first time, continuing to develop as an offensive contributor.
Sahmkow started the scoring eight minutes in. Dahl demonstrated excellent touch on a trickling pass that beat his defender but still gave Casper Svendby, crashing toward the net, time to collect it and feed it across to Sahmkow for a layup goal.

From there Dahl missed a pair of close calls, but then it was his chance to net the first goal of his Panthers’ career, darting down from the left off a free kick and beating Cleveland State goalkeeper Stephen Yerian on the short side.
Pitt continued to pour it on in the second half, with Albert Thorsen recording the next tally. Yerian managed to fight off Thorsen’s first shot, but the rebound found the sophomore’s boot a second time and he laid it past the still sprawled out keeper.
Sahmkow capitalized on another Cleveland State miscue to notch his fourth goal in the past two matches. Vikings freshman Fefo Granados attempted to reset by flipping a pass to Yerian, who didn’t clear it in time, delivering the ball right into Sahmkow’s wheelhouse as he charged toward the net with trademark reckless abandon.
