Insiders close to Usuthu have indicated that the signing on fee and the salary Dolly was looking for were higher than the amount hoped for by the club. The sources added that this is why the talks broke down. Otherwise AmaZulu were close to signing the former Bafana Bafana star before he returned to train with SuperSport United.

Dolly has been keeping fit at Matsatsantsa while looking to find a new club, either in South Africa or abroad.
“AmaZulu FC made two different inquiries about Keagan (Dolly). The first one was just as soon as he started training with SuperSport United and it was hard for Dolly to make any decision at that time as he hoped things will work out for him at SuperSport. Then the second one was after he had stopped training with SuperSport. This time around the problem was the money,” said the Siya source close to Usuthu.
“AmaZulu felt like what was asked for the services for Dolly was a bit high compared to what they were prepared and willing to pay. Both the salary and the signing on fee were a bit higher and AmaZulu pulled out of the deal,” the source added.

A second insider stated that AmaZulu have released other players because they were cutting down on salary expenditures, and signing Dolly with his salary would not have made sense.
“You know he is coming from Kaizer Chiefs where he was one of the highest paid and it’s understandable to ask for what they were asking for but the club felt they could not go down that route again as they have done it before with Tsepo Masilela, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and George Maluleka among others. So they took the decision not to sign Dolly,” the second Siya source stated.
Soccer Laduma contacted AmaZulu FC for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing this story.
