Liven Singh, a 23-year-old soccer talent from Durban North, has been making waves in the South African football scene. His journey began at the tender age of four when he joined Virginia Football Club, marking the start of a promising career.
“I started playing football at the age of four when I joined my first club called Virginia Football Club,” Singh shared. This early exposure to the game set the foundation for his future success. Singh’s soccer path has seen him rise through the ranks of several notable teams. After spending 12 years with Virginia Football Club, he moved on to Royal Eagles, where he joined the academy at 16. By the age of 18, Singh had signed his first professional contract with Royal Eagles, which later became Real Kings and eventually Royal AM.
He also featured prominently for the Royal AM Diski team during the 2021/ 2022 season. Among Singh’s impressive accomplishments is winning the prestigious Engen Knockout Challenge Defender of the Tournament award, an accolade that cemented his status as a standout player in South African football. Reflecting on his journey so far, Singh said, “It would be an honour to get a chance to play overseas, but for now, I’m focusing on Futsal where I see a pathway for better opportunities.”
His current focus on Futsal, a fast-paced variation of soccer played indoors, is part of a broader plan to elevate his career. As he continues to sharpen his skills in this sport, Singh remains optimistic about the doors it could open, both locally and abroad. Singh’s coach, Mahadhew Singh, who plays a pivotal role in nurturing his talent, is equally excited about his potential.

“Liven is an incredibly skilled and intelligent player. His technical abilities are remarkable, and he has the game intelligence that sets him apart. It’s been a privilege to work with him,” the coach stated. The coach heads the Durban School of Excellence, which competes under the name Blue Stars in the league. The academy, known for developing players who now feature in top South African leagues like the PSL, Motsepe League, and the National First Division, has been instrumental in Liven’s development.
“Our academy focuses on technique and intelligence, educating players about the game. We also emphasise good structure and discipline,” the coach explained.
In addition to its football focus, the academy has also achieved success in futsal, with seven players having represented South Africa on the international stage. “Futsal has been a great platform for our players, and we’re expanding. We’re excited to start operations in Phoenix within the next two weeks,” the coach stated. As Singh continues to hone his craft, his ambition to play internationally remains strong. With his current trajectory, it’s only a matter of time before this talented player makes his mark on the global stage.
