Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has reflected on his side’s surprise Carling Knockout exit at the hands of Magesi FC.

The Buccaneers’ seven-game winning run came to an end after losing 3-2 to the newly-promoted side at Orlando Stadium.

The Spanish tactician was adamant his side did not play bad but did speak on the defensive errors that led to Magesi’s goals.

“We didn’t play that bad, even in the first-half 2-0 down but the goals were something obscene, to be honest we cannot afford to defend those situations as a team because it was not individual mistakes,” Riveiro said on SuperSport TV.

“Sometimes it happens, it was as a collective, [it’s] something to be concerned [about] from my side. 3-0 at halftime, it was really difficult to come back, we tried until the end, we were close.

“It’s difficult to explain that we didn’t score more than one or two goals but congratulations to the opponent, they did their job, they managed to slow down the game enough to utilize their chances in transitions, that’s the reading of the game.”

He continued, “[Mohau] Nkota, Rele [Mofokeng], [Tshegofatso] Mabasa, everybody had different types of chances today but it was not our day in front of goal. We could not even solve the problem that we created ourselves in the first-half, because we created more than enough,” Riveiro said.

“Today was not our day, congratulations to Magesi and we move to the next one.”.
