Itumeleng Khune says there is no love lost between himself and the Motaung family, amid negotiations regarding his future both on and off the field.
Chiefs made their intention clear when they announced their plans to absorb Khune into the club’s structures, a season before the expiry of what was the final contract of his Amakhosi tenure.
Of course, this decision went against the wishes of the 37-year-old who had an eye on continuing as a player for at least three more seasons.
Despite their inability to agree on a way forward for both parties for now, Khune says that he still keeps up to date with the current Chiefs side coached by Nasreddine Nabi and he still enjoys a productive relationship with the Motaung family.
“I do watch their games. I do support them,” Khune told the media at the launch of his partnership with TopBet.
“I
do meet up with the technical team. I do meet up with the Motaung family. I
went to attend Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns and I met with everyone and
we still cool, we talk, we hug each other but negotiations are negotiations, we
still negotiating.

“But again, there’s nothing wrong with me attending the
Kaizer Chiefs matches, I attend all the matches that I think I’m free to go and
support because I’m now a football analyst at SABC. And I’m proud to say I need
to watch all the matches I need to analyze all the players. I need to know the
club form week in, week out and. That’s my journey now.
“So whatever is gonna happen
going forward, we will see what happens. But for now, I’m enjoying what I’m
doing currently,” he added.
