Soccer fans were so excited during a final series game in Paraguay that the entire stadium was captured on video wobbling like cardboard during their euphoric celebration.
Loyal supporters traveled from Brazil to Asunción – more than 800 miles away – to watch their beloved Cruzeiro team in action on the field of Nueva Olla stadium last week.
But exhilaration took over right before kick-off when the players from Belo Horizonte, a city in Brazil, were still favored to win the tournament overall.
a blue sea of fans were seen jumping up and down while waving flags above their heads and chanting for their home-grown team in the nosebleeds.
Their elation was so intense that the footage captured the entirety of the stadium structure swaying and wobbling like cardboard from their jumps – appearing to give the impression of an earthquake despite the sunny day.
It’s not clear whether or not the structure sustained any serious damage from the wild movement.
But fans were quick to express their opinions on social media – mostly about the dangerous feel of the stadium now that they have seen the video.
‘Some structural movement is normal, but the movement there is excessive,’ said one viewer. ‘Eventually, it will collapse.’
Yet their initial happiness was short lived as the Argentinian Racing Club team, a team from Avellaneda, beat Cruzeiro 3-1 – ultimately taking home their first Copa Sudamericana trophy and bringing their international title count to seven.
