Orlando Pirates are expected to ring the changes ahead of their huge CAF Champions League clash against Pyramids FC this weekend, with coach Jose Riveiro looking to manage his squad carefully across three major competitions.
Fresh from booking their spot in the Nedbank Cup final with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants on Sunday, the Buccaneers are set to field a refreshed and more experienced line-up at FNB Stadium when they host their Egyptian counterparts.

In the semi-final against Gallants, Pirates notably rested a few key players, underlining Riveiro’s tactical rotation strategy as the club continues to juggle Champions League duties, domestic league commitments, and the ongoing cup campaign.
Midfield dynamo Thalente Mbatha, who was a surprise absentee from the matchday squad last weekend, is expected to make his return for Saturday’s encounter.
His presence could add much-needed control and creativity in the middle of the park against the visiting Pyramids.
Between the sticks, Melusi Buthelezi was handed a rare start and kept a clean sheet, but sources suggest regular number one Sipho Chaine is likely to be restored to the starting XI for the Champions League clash.
Highly rated youngster Relebohile Mofokeng, who started on the bench in the Nedbank Cup semi, is also tipped to return to the starting line-up alongside defender Tapelo Xoki, who was a late substitute against Gallants.
There’s also a flicker of hope regarding the return of star winger Monnapule Saleng, who has been sidelined for the past four months.
