Richards Bay coach Ronnie Gabriel has reflected on his side’s difficult start to the Betway Premiership season, which has seen them lose all three of their opening fixtures.

Their latest setback came at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night, where Kaizer Chiefs edged them 1-0 courtesy of a Gaston Sirino strike.

Speaking to the media after the game, Gabriel admitted that the start to the campaign was far from what the club had envisioned.

“It’s not the best start to the season and no team would like this kind of start. Based on our first two games, we created chances, we had possession, and we dominated the opposition, even though the results didn’t come. Tonight, we were not at our best and we must admit that,” Gabriel explained.

The Richards Bay boss pointed out that the team is in transition, with several youngsters being introduced to the topflight.

“We’re bleeding a lot of youngsters into the team and getting them used to the rigours of the PSL. It’s not easy, but we’re confident it will come right going forward,” he added.
