Marumo Gallants could find themselves losing out on Gabadinho Mhango at the end of the season if they don’t act quick to tie him down to a new contract.
The Malawian international’s contract with Gallants is expiring at the end of June. It’s a contract Mhango had with Moroka Swallows before it was purchased by Gallants and now there’s just a few months left on it.

Mhango’s agent, Mike Makaab, has told Soccer Laduma that they are not engaging with any other club at the moment for the services of the former Orlando Pirates striker, but made it clear that the ball is in Gallants’ court to open talks over a new deal.
“We are looking at opportunities for him. Obviously, Marumo Gallants are a club we have got to respect. He’s got a contract with them and he is doing well for them. What we don’t want to do is engage anybody at the moment purely because he is just starting to find his straps again. Let’s hope that it continues because when I look at an in-form Gabadinho Mhango, very few players can score goals the way he can. The most important thing is that he is going to continue working hard and let’s see where it takes him,” Makaab said to Soccer Laduma, before revealing that they are not going to wait too long for Gallants to start engaging them over a new deal.
“No, we won’t wait. The club has every opportunity to engage us. They know that we represent Gaba. If they are keen on his services, they need to approach us.”

Mhango has been one of the side’s stand out performers this season, with five goals and one assist in 23 matches for the club. He is their top scorer in the league and there could be opportunities for him to make a move come the end of the season if Gallants wait too long to put an offer on the table.
SuperSport United were believed to be interested in the player, but with Gavin Hunt gone, it’s unclear if the club will make a move for him. Chippa United are also known admirers of Mhango, who is open to a move at the end of the campaign.
