The Bafana Bafana international appears to be approaching the end of his career with the Club of the Century, with multiple reports claiming that the Egyptian juggernauts do not plan to extend the forward’s contract.

In fact, it seems the record African champions want to part ways with the 30-year-old as soon as possible.

According to El Watan Sports, club sporting director Mohamed Ramadan tried to speak to Tau about possibly terminating his contract in January, but the Egyptian executive was directed to speak to the player’s agent, Mmatsatsi Sefalafala, instead.

The same report claims that Al Ahly are offering to mutually terminate the player’s contract during the mid-season window, proposing to pay him half of the money remaining on his current deal.

However, it is understood that Tau’s agent has informed the club that if they want to buy out the reigning CAF Interclubs Player of the Year, they will need to pay the full amount.

This stance is said to have angered the chiefs at Mokhtar El Tetsh Stadium, as the club are eager to open up a foreign player spot to bring in a replacement, in line with head coach Marcel Koller’s plans.

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will stand their ground or submit to Tau’s request, but it appears the former Brighton & Hove Albion man is already attracting interest from elsewhere.

Egyptian clubs Zamalek and Pyramids, as well as Saudi Arabia’s Al Kholood, are all rumoured to be interested.
