With Lucas Ribeiro Costa doing so well for Mamelodi Sundowns this season, Soccer Laduma looks at how his value has risen since coming to the PSL.
At the time of signing for Sundowns in 2023 from Belgian club SK Beveren, the Brazilian was valued at €600 000 (R11.4 million) but a lot has changed since then.

Ribeiro has become a hit in South African football and has already been rated as one of the best South American players to have played in the PSL. Halfway through the current campaign, the 26-year-old has been tipped to win the Footballer of the Season award.
He is currently the top scorer in the league with nine goals, three ahead of his Sundowns teammate Iqraam Rayners, who is second on the scoring charts.
Naturally, Ribeiro’s value has increased over time and Sundowns would make a big profit, it seems, if they were to sell him for what he is currently valued at by Transfermarkt.
According to the website, Ribeiro is currently valued at € 2 million (R38.2 million) and it’s like to keep rising if his performances for the Tshwane giants keep getting better.

Recently, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso said that they should profit from Ribeiro’s presence as much as possible. It may have been an indication of the coach knowing that there is a possibility of him leaving in future.
With the FIFA Club World Cup coming, it’s the perfect place for Ribeiro to showcase his talent to scouts.
