FC Barcelona extended their winless run to three matches in LALIGA after losing 2-1 to Las Palmas on Saturday afternoon.

LALIGA

Result: Barcelona 1-2 Las Palmas

Date: 30 November 2024

Venue: Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

Alejandro Balde, Dani Olmo and Pablo Torre were recalled to the Blaugrana starting line-up, with Gerard Martin, Gavi and Marc Casado dropping to the bench alongside the returning Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres.

The visitors made a lively start to the encounter, with Sandro Ramírez and Javi Muñoz managing to break beyond the Barcelona defence, but they were unable to convert in the 18 yard area.

The Catalans coach Hansi Flick was forced into an early alteration as Balde’s afternoon came to an end after just 26 minutes, with Gerard Martin brought on as the replacement.

Barcelona dominated possession for the remainder of the first half but they found it tough carve out any clear-cut openings, as top scorer Robert Lewandowski barely had a touch of the ball in the opening 45 minutes.

As a result, the hosts wasted no time in introducing Yamal, who had not featured in Barcelona’s last three games as Torre dropped out in the attack.

Las Palmas silenced the home fans four minutes after the break when Sandro bagged his fourth goal of the season against his former team after being played in by Rodriguez.

After introducing Hector Fort, Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres, Barcelona restored parity on the hour mark as Pedri did well to play in Raphinha, who surged towards the box before firing into the bottom corner.

The home side’s joy only lasted six minutes as Las Palmas were back in front on 66 minutes when Fabio Silva latched onto a fine pass from Munoz and buried the ball home for his fifth league goal of the campaign.

The Catalan giants threw everything forward in search of an equaliser but the likes of Yamal and Lewandowski were unable to make the team’s dominance count as Las Palmas held on for a famous victory against the league leaders.
