Sokratis Papastathopoulos is reportedly wanted by Bayern Munich and Real Betis
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a making an emergency signing by acquiring the services of a former Arsenal star.
The Bavarians have been hit with injuries in the defensive area, with first choice defender Dayot Upamecano set to be ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.
Bayern were expected to re-sign former Bavarians defender Jerome Boateng but that collapsed amid reports supporters wanting to protest due to the player’s abuse allegations.

As a result, German publication Bild have now reported that the German giants have now turned their attention to former Gunners defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
The 35-year-old has been a free agent since parting ways with Olympiacos at the end of last season, having spent two and a half years with the Greek giants.
However, Fabrizio Romano reported that Real Betis are interested in signing the Greek defender after Marc Batra was ruled out for several months with an Achilis injury.
“Real Betis will decide in the next 24h about Sokratis Papastathopoulos as new centre back on free agent deal,” Romano said.
“Discussions taking place, up to the club as today could be already right time for internal decision.
“Sokratis would replace Bartra following his injury.”
