Dublin, Ireland and Milan, Italy, Oct. 08, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Brera Holdings PLC (“Brera” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: BREA), the only publicly traded multi-club ownership company focused on football (soccer), today announced it has been recognized with the 2024 Social Impact Through Soccer Award at IMPACT 5050, an annual event honoring leaders and innovators making a significant impact in their industries and communities.

IMPACT 5050, which took place September 12-15 at the Mandarin Resort in the Mexican state of Nayarit, was hosted by the Internet Marketing Association.

The Social Impact Through Soccer Award was Brera’s second, having first received the honor in 2022.

“We are gratified to once again be recognized at this prestigious event,” said Brera chief executive, Pierre Galoppi. “For over 20 years, social impact has grown from a founding principle to become a key component of our business, including nurturing aspiring players and engaging fans from disadvantaged backgrounds. For example, in 2021, we started the FENIX Trophy tournament, featuring non-professional European soccer clubs, each paired with a charity partner recognized for its social, historical, and cultural contributions — and our current 2024 tournament has more teams and charity partners than ever.”

“Also, this year, our Mongolian soccer club, Brera Ilch, set up a social impact partnership with the youth sector of Bayangol FC soccer club, which also plays in the Mongolian Premier League, the country’s highest level of soccer. This partnership currently provides Mongolian children widespread opportunities to play soccer, engage in healthy social activities, and tackle substance abuse.

“Additionally, in 2024, our Mozambique soccer club Brera Tchumene launched regular visits by players and coaches to the Infantário Primeiro de Maio orphanage in the capital city of Maputo. During these visits, the orphanage’s children are coached in playing soccer and other games, and the Brera players and coaches assist in delivering basic goods, including food and cleaning products.

In June 2024, the North Macedonian women’s football club Tiverija Strumica was officially integrated into the Brera family through the formation of a joint-stock company, ultimately governed by Brera Holdings, named Women’s Football Club Tiverija Brera AD Strumica (“Brera Tiverija”). This landmark transaction marked the inaugural establishment of a for-profit women’s football club in North Macedonia. Brera Holdings prioritized the creation of Brera Tiverija during negotiations with the country’s football governing body, underscoring its commitment to providing equitable opportunities for female athletes. “We look forward to continuing this social impact and ESG work,” said Mr. Galoppi. “and to utilize the amazing sport of soccer to elevate and enrich disadvantaged communities worldwide.”

In March 2023, the Company expanded to Africa by establishing Brera Tchumene FC, a team then admitted to the Second Division League in Mozambique, a country of nearly 32 million people. Brera Tchumene FC won its post-season tournament and, in November 2023, was promoted to Mocambola, the First Division in Mozambique. In April 2023, the Company acquired 90% of the European first-division football team Fudbalski Klub Akademija Pandev, now known as Brera Strumica FC, in North Macedonia, a country with participation rights in two major Union of European Football Association (“UEFA”) competitions.

In June 2023, Brera acquired a strategic stake in Manchester United PLC, a portion of which was subject to a tender offer by Sir Jim Radcliffe and sold at a 74% realized gain. In July 2023, the Company completed the acquisition of a majority ownership in the Italian Serie A1 women’s professional volleyball team UYBA Volley S.s.d.a.r.l. In September 2023, the Company assumed control of Bayanzurkh Sporting Ilch FC, a Mongolian National Premier League team, which became Brera Ilch FC when the football season resumed in March 2024. In January 2024, the Company announced the launch of a proactive search for an Italian Serie B football club target designed to bring multi-club ownership of the highest tiers of professional sports ownership to mass investors through the Company’s Nasdaq-listed shares. In February 2024, the Brera Holdings Advisory Board was established with MLS founder and World Cup director Alan Rothenberg, luxury lifestyle executive Massimo Ferragamo, sports business leaders Paul Tosetti and Marshall Geller, and Italian football icon Giuseppe Rossi.

In June 2024, the North Macedonian women’s football club Tiverija Strumica officially became part of the Brera family with the establishment of a joint-stock company controlled by Brera Holdings called Women’s Football Club Tiverija Brera AD Strumica (“Brera Tiverija”).
