He may be coming in as a replacement, but Stellenbosch FC attacker Devin Titus cannot be ruled out of getting some valuable minutes on the pitch for Bafana Bafana, if Hugo Broos’ comments are anything to go by.
Titus was part of Bafana’s first training session at Dobsonville Stadium on Monday afternoon ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan, after coming in as a replacement for injured Mihlali Mayambela.

Titus has been knocking on the national team door and has an opportunity to impress Broos, who has a history of rewarding players who show potential in national team colours.
With 17 matches this season, backed by his three goals and two assists, Titus is in the right type of form to show what he can do if given an opportunity to play in any of the upcoming qualifiers.
“We had to make a change in the selection because Mayambela is out with an injury. He is replaced by Devon Titus. I think when you see the performances of Devon and Mayambela is injured, I don’t see another player who can replace. He played a very strong season. He scores, he’s very quick and can dribble players. He is a very dangerous player. You can’t say anything bad about the choice of Devon Titus,” Broos said during a press conference held at Dobsonville Stadium on Monday.
“If I need him, I am sure he will help us. But I am sure of it because he has a certain talent and that is eliminating a player, scoring. So, he can help us if we need him.
Three points will be enough to book a spot for Bafana against Uganda away from home on Friday. Should they fail to collect points, then they’d have to wrap it up in the final qualifier against South Sudan on home soil next Tuesday.

“We are aware of the importance of the two games in front of us. Two games of qualification and after those two games it’s finished. Being the bronze medalists of the last AFCON and looking at the opponents in the group, I think it would be a little shame if we can’t qualify. We need three or two points to have security,” Broos said.
Overseas based duo Siyabonga Ngezana and Luke le Roux, meanwhile, are expected to join the squad on Tuesday
