Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has explained his decision on Orlando Pirates defender Thabiso Sesane who has been selected for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Sesane, 24, has made the cut as Broos named a strong 23-man Bafana squad for back-to-back matches against Congo-Brazzaville at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium next Friday, and another on October 15 in Brazzaville.

Sesane, who has been outstanding for the Buccaneers as they haven’t lost a single match in 10 in the different competitions so far this season, earned himself the first Bafana call-up as Broos needed a replacement for the injured Siyabonga Ngezana.
“You know, for a moment I think that Pirates and Stellenbosch are the two teams that play best football. That means that the players who are playing in those teams are good players, or they play good also. So, when we had to replace Ngezana we were looking at other players… Sesane, but also a few others, and we decided to take him because he played all the games with Pirates since the beginning of the season,” said Broos, speaking to journalists at during the squad announcement at the SABC television studios in Auckland Park on Thursday.

The Belgian mentor, who lauded the Bucs development product for his impressive performances, says the centre-back was also a preferred choice for Bafana assistant coach Helman Mkhalele after consulting with him.
“So that means that after the discussion with my friend Helman, we decided to take him and I think it was the good choice to replace Ngezana for the moment,” the coach said.
