South Africa have been crowned 2024 COSAFA U20 Cup champions after defeating Zambia 2-0 in the final on Saturday afternoon.
The likes of Shandre Campbell, Siyabonga Mabena and Cape Town City’s Jody Ah Shene continued in the attack for the South Africans.
Amajita already booked their ticket to the U20 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Angola 1-0 in the semi-finals on Thursday afternoon, with Ashene getting the only goal.
Zambia, meanwhile, sealed their spot in the final after defeating Zimbabwe via the penalty shoot-out after it ended 2-2 during regulation time.
The South Africans got the early lead as Campbell found the back of the net by firing past the Zambian goalkeeper Levison Banda after just five minutes into the first half.
The lead was doubled on the stroke of halftime as Ahshene made it two goals in two games to hand South Africa the two-goal cushion.
There was no way back for the Zambians in the second period, with Raymond Mdaka’s charges closing up shop to keep the clean sheet to go along with COSAFA Cup title.
