The Blues handed a start to Trevoh Chalobah, who was recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace while there was also a rare start for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Enzo Maresca’s charges dominated in the early exchanges of the first, but the likes of Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto found it tough to get any joy against the Wolves defence in the final third.

The Blues eventually broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when Tosin Adarabioyo sent a composed finish past Jose Sa after Wolves failed to clear their liens from a corner, with VAR approving the strike.

Wolves took a while to get going but they levelled matters on the stroke of halftime when Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez dropped the ball from a corner, allowing Matt Doherty to poke home from three yards out.

The Blues came out firing in the second half and restored their lead on the hour mark when Noni Madueke’s cross found its way to Marc Cucurella who volleyed home from close range.

The lead was extended five minutes later as Chalobah got on the end of Palmer’s free-kick with a glancing header, but Madueke was on hand to head the ball over the line from point-blank range to make it four goals in two games against Wolves.

Wolves were unable to mount any serious openings in the latter stages of the second half, as the Blues ended their five-game winless run in the league.
