Edgewood, Edwards power by Indian Creek in girls soccer sectional

Emma Edwards continued her red-hot run, putting four goals in the back of the net to lead Edgewood to a 4-0 win over Indian Creek in their opener at the Class 2A Monrovia girls’ soccer sectional on Tuesday.

Edwards has scored the last 10 goals for the Mustangs (10-6) who will return for the semifinals on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to take on the host state-ranked Bulldogs (13-2-1), who scuttled Northview, 6-0, in the other first round game. West Vigo (9-7) and Owen Valley (3-9) will battle in the second semi at around 7:15.

Edgewood took a 3-0 lad by halftime and Macey Crider made it hold up with two saves as the Braves finished 2-13.

Boys sectional at Northview

South Vermillion and Greencastle advanced to the semifinals of the Class 2A Northview Sectional and will have just 24 hours to get ready for their matchup on Wednesday at around 7:30 p.m. following Edgewood (7-6-2) and the host Knights (7-8).

South Vermillion (6-6-2) took down Owen Valley (3-10-1), 3-1, while Greencastle (12-3-1) took care of Indian Creek (7-6-1), 3-0, with all three goals coming in the last 30 minutes.
