Manchester City 8-0 Salford FC

Manchester City proved too strong for League Two side Salford City after registering an 8-0 win at in the FA Cup third round.

The home side opened the scoring after just eight minutes through Jeremy Doku’s finish, before debutant Divin Mubama doubled the lead with a close-range finisg.

There was a third goal on the stroke of halftime as another youngster Nico O’Reilly collected a pass from Doku before firing into the far corner.

It was more of the same in the second half as Jack Grealish added his name to the score-sheet via the penalty spot while James McAtee and Doku added to the rout before the 70-minute mark to make it 6-0.

McAtee bagged two more goals to complete his hat-trick on the night and round off an emphatic evening for last season’s runners-up.

Chelsea 5-0 Morecambe

Chelsea cruised to the next round with a 5-0 victory over Morecambe at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues squandered a big chance to take the lead in the 17th minute, as Christopher Nkunku saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne.

The hosts did eventually get the opening goal six minutes before the break, with new signing Tosin Adarabioyo getting his first goal for the club with a strike from distance.

Enzo Maresca’s charges put their foot on the pedal in the second period, as Nkunku got the second goal on 50 minutes before Adarabioyo completed his brace on 70 minutes.

Joao Felix completed the rout for the home side in the final 15 minutes, with the Portugal international netting twice.

Brentford 0-1 Plymouth Argyle

Brentford’s FA Cup journey came to a surprising end in the third round after losing 1-0 to Championship side Plymouth Argyle.

The game was heading for extra-time until Morgan Whittaker found the back of the net in the 82nd minute for the bottom-placed team.

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Luton Town

Nottingham Forest progressed to the fourth round with a 2-0 win over Championship side Luton Town.

Forest opened the scoring on the stroke of halftime courtesy of a strike from Ryan Yates after being set up by Roman Sosa, who bagged the team’s second goal in the second half.
