A forgotten PSL striker is planning to make his long-awaited return against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Abubakar Nassir joined SuperSport United from Sundowns at the start of the season, but is yet to make a competitive appearance for the club.
Nassir has appeared on the bench just once for SuperSport this campaign, but has joined up with the Ethiopian national team for their World Cup qualifiers.

Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) secretary general Bahiru Tilahun has revealed that Nasir is fit and raring to go.
“We have spoken with Nassir’s coach (Gavin Hunt). Hunt told us that Nassir will help us a lot,” Tilahun said, as per PanAfricanFootball.
“He started in some practice matches for his club and he is fit. He is training well so he is in a good shape.”
Ethiopia coach Mesay Teferi echoed Tilahun’s sentiments ahead of Friday’s clash against Egypt.
“We were communicating with Nassir. We checked his health status. He is doing well so far so we have called him. Because he supports the team,” he added.
“His experience is what made us call him. If he is healthy, he is a very good player.”
