Despite not gaining consistent results since the start of the season, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki believes they have very good competition in the squad and that this is mainly in their strike force.

In the forward line they have new players such as Ranga Chivaviro and Jasond Gonzalez who Ntseki feels both have what it takes to take the team to greater heights, but the coach explains why they may not get as many chances together.

Amakhosi have recently come under pressure for losing to SuperSport United in the PSL and then to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final second leg, effectively being knocked out of the competition.

The former Bafana Bafana mentor believes his charges should be allowed time to settle down and produce the results the team needs.

“I think Ranga (Chivaviro) is one of the players we have brought in this season (to make a difference). We have done a very good profile of Ranga but the unfortunate part is that Ranga could not be with us in pre-season,” Ntseki told the media.

“He was injured. He came back to play 72 minutes against Chippa United and then 29 minutes against TS Galaxy and he was injured again. But he came in against SuperSport United and what he needs is to gain his confidence back.

“Just like any other striker you need to have that confidence to start scoring goals. The same with Gonzalez. He just needs to score that one goal then his confidence is back.

“I think we have a very good competition in the team. When you look at the type of strikers we have brought into the team. At the end of the day we can not play both of them because of the system that we have deployed on that specific day,” Ntseki observed.

Even though Ntseki may be referencing tactics to face a particular type of opponent, it has been suggested that Chiefs may favour a fast moving frontline and it could be that one of Gonzalez and Chivaviro may be favoured at a time.
