WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Boys’ Section III soccer was the name of the game Wednesday night.
Lyme hosted Sackets Harbor in Class D.
– Sackets Harbor strikes first when Jake Peters dents the back of the net. It’s 1-0 Patriots.
– Lyme answers quickly when Alex Radley goes far corner for the tally. The score is 1-all.
– The Lakers take the lead moments later off a throw-in when Radley gets a head on the ball and connects. It’s 2-1 Lakers.
– Then it’s Jonny LaFontaine splitting the pipes, making it 3-1.
Lyme advances, beating Sackets Harbor 7-3.
Also in Class D, the Copenhagen Golden Knights hosted Old Forge.
– Second half: Copenhagen is up 2-0 and looking to add to their lead, but Logan Jordal’s shot is stopped.
– Old Forge looks to get on the board, but Aydan Sheitz reels in the Walter Parent shot.
– Copenhagen has a great chance off the corner, but Tavian Camper’s header bounces off the goalie’s hands and the post.
– Brenten Mattis and Landon Sullivan would score second-half goals.
Copenhagen blanked Old Forge 2-0.
In Class B playoffs from Lowville, the Red Raiders hosted Jordan-Elbridge.
– Less than 6 minutes in, Lowville takes the lead when Carver Nortz lifts a shot over the goalie. It’s 1-0 Red Raiders.
– Lowville looks to add to the lead, but Peyton Matuszczak’s shot is deflected away by the goalie.
– Peyton Matuszczak would score twice, and Ryan Meleshchuk would add a goal.
Lowville blanks Jordan-Elbridge 4-0.
