With bids for Jayden Adams already reportedly rejected by Stellenbosch FC, Mamelodi Sundowns are now focusing on the January transfer window to make another attempt at signing the South Africa international.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Sundowns had made offers to the Cape Winelands side for Adams, who was recently removed from the Bafana Bafana squad to face Congo in upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo.

South Africa coach Hugo Broos had revealed on Monday, how Adams won’t play against Congo for disciplinary reasons.

Despite his current situation with the men’s national team, Siya sources close to Sundowns and the player have indicated that the defending league champions are believed to be preparing a renewed bid for Adams in January.

Insiders privy to information have added that both Sundowns’ technical team and management have agreed on the necessity of bringing Adams to Chloorkop, prompting them to reopen negotiations.

“They haven’t given up. Yes, they were beaten by time in the last transfer window and now they will revisit everything in the January transfer window period. They are doing all they can to convince Stellenbosch FC to sell them Jayden Adams and if it means increasing the offer to Stellenbosch they will do that. They feel they really need his services in the team. They will go for him again in January,” the Siya source stated.

A second insider stated that Sundowns are even willing to include one or more players in the offer for Adams if necessary.

“There are players who Sundowns feel they would involve in the (potential) Adams deal but they are waiting for Stellenbosch to hear if they are also interested in those players that they are offering together with the money they are offering for the exchange of Adams. But the fact is that they are not giving up and they are looking at January to renegotiate with Stellenbosch FC,” the second insider stated.

Soccer Laduma contacted Adams’ agent Michael Costa who could neither confirm nor deny the fact that Sundowns are working on signing him in January.

“With respect to both clubs, let’s not comment on that at this point,” Costa told the Siya crew.

Adams has been the subject of ongoing discussions between Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC, with previous bids from the Brazilians being reportedly rejected by the Winelands side.

So, the Brazilians’ determination to sign Adams underscores their commitment to strengthening their squad. As they prepare for the January transfer window, the club’s willingness to increase their offer and potentially include player exchanges highlights their strategic approach to securing Adams’ services. The upcoming negotiations will be crucial in determining whether Sundowns can finally bring the talented midfielder to Chloorkop.
