Insiders close to Chiefs have indicated that the club is willing to work hard to keep the Soweto-born midfielder when his loan deal expires in June. With the injury to Edson Castillo and the potential loan or release of Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa, Amakhosi are looking to keep Blom for the long term.

Castillo is expected to be out for about five months, making Blom an even more important player for the rest of this campaign. The sources added that both the scouting department and the technical team are happy to have Blom as part of their squad, even for next season.
“It’s a combined feeling at the club that they would still need Njabulo (Blom) next season. The coach made it clear when he came that he has an important role to play at the club and that’s why they are looking at keeping him beyond the loan deal which expires in June. It will however depend on whether St. Louis City will agree or if they are not ready to let him go. But as for Chiefs, they are willing to keep him longer,” the Siya source stated.
A second source stated that the club should be looking to keep Blom because they might be releasing Mthethwa, either on loan or permanently.
“They want to keep him because they may not have Mthethwa next season or as early as January (next year). So they are already looking at how to cover up that defensive midfield area and Njabulo is the first choice at the moment as he is already with the club. Everyone involved at the club is happy with his involvement so far,” the second source stated.

Since his return from the United States, the 24-year-old Chiefs academy graduate has played in three league games after missing the opener due to a lack of match fitness. Soccer Laduma tried to get a comment from Chiefs on the player, but there was no response at the time of preparing this story.
The publication also contacted the player’s representative, Matthew Moore, but there was no response at the time of publishing this report.
Chiefs look to secure Blom’s services beyond his loan deal, and the midfielder’s importance to the team is evident. With key players injured and potential departures on the horizon, Blom’s role at the club could be crucial for their success. Fans will be eager to see if Chiefs can negotiate a permanent stay for the talented midfielder.
