Orlando Pirates’ Zakhele Lepasa
With Orlando Pirates currently on their pre-season tour in Spain, a number of players were noticeably left behind, with sources suggesting that some omissions have to do with ongoing contract negotiations and uncertain futures.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, the club is set to part ways with several squad members, with one of the names making headlines is striker Zakhele Lepasa, who was not part of the touring squad.
Insiders close to the situation have informed Soccer Laduma that the former Bafana Bafana forward is waiting for clarity from the club on his future.
“His contract was supposed to run out at the end of June and talks have been ongoing on for some time. It’s believed that there was a contract proposal from the club with the player and his representatives having a counter proposal and now Lepasa is waiting on Pirates. Everything now remains a decision to be made by the club and that’s what he is waiting for,” a source revealed to to Siya crew.

Indications are that while Lepasa did not fly to Spain, the new head coach is believed to be keen on keeping him in the squad for the upcoming season.
“He did not travel to Spain as the talks have stalled as he is waiting on the team, but it’s believed that the new head coach is happy with what he has seen from him at training. If all goes well he could join the team in Spain at a later stage. It is in the hands of the club,” the source told Soccer Laduma.
Lepasa, who was recovering from injury, did not feature in any official matches last season. His contract situation further complicated his role within the squad, as he edged closer to the end of his deal.
Soccer Laduma reached out to Pirates for comment, but attempts were unsuccessful.
