Chiefs youngsters, particularly attackers, the likes of Shabalala, Vilakazi and Wandile Duba performed reasonably well under pressure, with Gaston Sirino injured and the January signings yet to arrive.
However, the performances of the above players have dropped since Sirino got back from his injury and with new signings Makabi Lilepo, Thabo Cele and Tashreeq Morris bringing stability.
The Glamour Boys needed spark in their recent game against Magesi but the likes of Shabalala and Vilakazi could not rise to the occasion, even though Nasreddine Nabi’s charges went on to win narrowly.

Khan, who was in charge of the Chiefs youth during the early 2000s, one of their most successful era, has suggested that the current crop of youngsters at the club could have been fast-tracked too quickly, before they could understand what playing in the league and club is all about.
“I think when you throw these youngsters in and you have not exposed them to the rigors of professional football, it becomes difficult. When I was working with Muhsin (Ertugral) we were very close, I knew what the first team required,” Khan said on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.

“Chiefs have done well with these players but it seems consistency is the problem. They need the know how to overcome, that transition from youth to the first team need to be managed. I was fortunate to have the likes of Nhanhla Kubheka, Gerald Sibeko, Jabu Pule, I constantly told them what to expect.
“With all due respect, you look at the kids that they have been promoted, they have already arrived, have they played 60, 70 games? They have to come down and be humble, learn from the senior players. Who are the players at Chiefs now that can pass that information? When we promoted the Jabu and them, we had legends, Doctor Khumalo, Thabo Mooki, Cyril Nzama, Brian Baloyi and they advised the players accordingly,” Khan added.
Chiefs have sent fellow youngster Donay Jansen on loan at SuperSport United, which could help with his development in getting used to the league, in the long run for Amakhosi.
