The Englishman made his Spanish top-flight debut earlier this month, when he came off the bench for Getafe to take on Osasuna.
In the ensuing 13 minutes that he was on the pitch, chants of “Greenwood die” rang around the El Sadar Stadium, but they did not seem to affect him much as it was his actions that led to the corner from which the goal scored to ultimately win the game for Pepe Bordalas’ men on that occasion.
This past weekend, however, the Bradford native was not as fortuitous at the Reale Arena as the Deep Blue Ones suffered a 4-3 loss to Real Sociedad.
Pamplona, where Osasuna is based, is not far from the Basque region where Getafe suffered their first league loss of the season, but the heinous chants that rang out on the second matchweek of the season also surfaced at the home of Sociedad.
According to Marca, LALIGA filed a report to the Competition Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation which read: “In the 72nd minute of the match, some 300 local fans, located in the central sector of the lower south end of the stand, where the ‘Aitor Zabaleta’ entertainment stand is located, sang in a choral and co-ordinated manner, for approximately 8 seconds, the chant, ‘lololololo, lolololo, Greenwood die, Greenwood die’, directed at a visiting player.”

The same report claims that the Spanish outfit could now be handed a fine as a result of the insults hurled at the Manchester United loanee, who went on to make his first start for Getafe in a 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night.
