Earlier this week, the teenage superstar played a major role in Spain’s third successive appearance in the Nations League final following their dramatic 5-4 victory over France.
The Ballon d’Or contender scored twice and earned man of the match honours, further strengthening his case for the prestigious Golden Ball award.
Prior to the match, Yamal suggested that the encounter against Les Bleus could be the definitive decider for the Ballon d’Or, with many having stated that Ousmane Dembele is his main rival.
However, despite the 2022 FIFA World Cup finalists mounting a late resurgence at the MHPArena in Stuttgart, the Paris Saint-Germain talisman failed to make a meaningful contribution.
Spain will now face their neighbours Portugal in the competition’s final at the Allianz Arena, a match that will mark the first time Yamal comes up against Ronaldo.
After the game, the Barcelona attacker was asked about facing the Real Madrid icon. While he expressed great admiration for the veteran forward, Yamal reiterated that his ultimate focus is on helping Spain secure more silverware.

“Cristiano is a legend, and we all have a lot of respect for him, but I’ll do my job, which is to win the match,” the La Masia alumni said, as per Diario AS.
