This past weekend, the Dutch tactician got the better of the reigning English champions, beating them 2-0 at Anfield in his first encounter against the Mancunians.
Ahead of his next league match, the 46-year-old decided to rub salt into City’s wounds by suggesting that they could be out of the Premier League come next season as a result of an ongoing investigation into their financial dealings.
Earlier this year, the Premier League charged the Sky Blues with 115 counts of financial irregularities dating back to the 2009/10 season.
The comment was prompted by Mohamed Salah’s remarks after their victory over Pep Guardiola’s side, where he said that it could possibly be the final time he plays against the side in front of the Anfield crowd.
Slot was asked about the Egyptian’s statement and he jokingly alluded to the investigation involving the English champions.
“Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 acquisitions [charges] and expects them not to be there in the Premier League next season,” Slot said in his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s clash against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening, as per ESPN.

“The boring answer is always the same. This is not the place for me to talk about Mo’s contract. It was a joke, I repeat it was a joke.”
