Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle United

Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points after defeating Newcastle United 2-0 at Anfield.

The visitors were without the services of top scorer Aleksander Isak through injury.

The Reds got the breakthrough on 12 minutes as Luis Diaz raced to the byline before pulling the ball back for Dominik Szoboszlai, who slammed home from close-range.

The lead was doubled after the hour mark as Mohamed Salah turned provider to set up Alexis Mac Allister, who rifled the ball home from close range.

Manchester United 3-2 Ipswich Town

Manchester United got back to winning ways in the league after defeating Ipswich Town 3-2 at Old Trafford.

The hosts took the lead after four minutes when Jadn Philogene pounced on a mix-up between Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana to slot into an empty net.

The home side levelled matters on 23 minutes when Ipswich’s Sam Morsey deflected Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick into his own net.

United completed the turnaround three minutes from another set-piece as Mathjis de Ligt slammed home his second league goal after a scramble in the box.

An eventful first half ended with United being reduced to ten men when Dorgu was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Omari Hutchinson following a VAR check, before Philogene got the equaliser with a cross that sailed into the far corner.

The Red Devils did restore their lead five minutes after the break when Harry Maguire got on the end of Fernandes’ corner and nodded home.

Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Manchester City

Manchester City reclaimed fourth spot on the table after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 on Wednesday night.

Erling Haaland returned to the line-up after not featuring in the last two games 

The Norwegian striker opened the scoring on 12 minutes by turning home Jeremy Doku’s cross for his 20th league goal.

Haaland did have the ball in the back of the net late in the game, but the goal was ruled out by VAR due to a handball, as the encounter ended 1-0.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal 

Arsenal’s title ambitions suffered another blow following a goalless draw away to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The Gunners now sit 13 points behind league leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.

Brentford 1-1 Everton

Everton battled back to secure a 1-1 draw against Brentford on Wednesday evening.

The Bees got the breakthrough before the halftime break Yoane Wissa fired home from close range after Bryan Mbeumo’s shot struck the woodwork.

The visitors got the equaliser in the 77th minute when Jake O’Brien bagged his first league goal by nodding home a cross from Vitalii Mykolenko.
