Orlando Pirates are the defending champions of the MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup while they are also competing in the CAF Champions League as well as the PSL and the new Carling Cup tournament.

Former Bucs defender and captain Edward “Magents” Motale has told Soccer Laduma that Pirates cannot choose to prioritise one trophy over the other as all the trophies are important to the club. This comes after question marks on whether Bucs are rotating, as they made many changes in the Caf Champions League in the 1-0 loss away to Jwaneng Galaxy last week.
The 1995 CAF Champions League winning captain stated that Pirates are capable of winning the treble or even more this season.
“You cannot chose which trophy to win or which one not to win. Every trophy is important for Pirates. What I can tell you is that the spirit in the camp looks good. That’s the morale you need in the team. You know at times if you have a squad like what Pirates have this season it would be difficult to keep everyone happy,” Motale told the Siya crew.

“But looking at the players right now we know we have the players who deserve to play for Pirates. So, what remains now is to fight for each and every trophy. As I said before they are capable of going as far as they can in the Champions League and also win trophies at home.
“That’s why I am saying every trophy is important and they have to fight until the end,” Motale said.
The former Bafana Bafana defender added that the good thing or the advantage with Pirates this season is the balance in the squad.
“You see with the new signings that have come in there is the balance in the team. No matter who plays in their positions they are good and they give their best. That’s what you need in a team for good performances all around. That’s what will also help the team fight well in all the competitions,” Motale concluded.
