The Siya crew has been led to believe that concerns have been raised at Chloorkop over some of the performances of Mamelodi Sundowns recently.
It’s understood that sporting director Flemming Berg has spent a lot of time with head coach Manqoba Mngqithi in recent times, with pressure mounting on the coach to deliver this season.

It’s believed some of the things that they have been discussing include the line-ups and, more recently, the way the team is playing. Sundowns have a certain way they want to play as a team and a lot of it means having dominance and scoring many goals, but there are matches where concerns have been raised by the head honchos.
Sundowns have not been so convincing in some of the games and indications are that the matches that have stood out as unsatisfactory are against Polokwane City in the league, as well as the Carling Knockout semi-finals and the final against Magesi FC.
Sundowns have missed out on the MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies and then made an underwhelming start to their CAF Champions League group campaign against DRC outfit Maniema Union, who are competing in the round robin for the first time in their history.

Mngqithi signed a four-year contract before the start of the new season, stepping in as head coach following the departure of Rulani Mokwena. And indications are that his job would be on the line if results and overall performances of the team do not improve.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for an official comment on Mngqithi’s situation but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
