Barcelona and Neymar have reportedly already begun discussions over a spectacular return for the Brazilian to the LALIGA giants.

At the end of last month, the 33-year-old signed for another one of his former clubs, Santos, after he terminated his contract with Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal. The skilful winger signed for the club in the oil-rich kingdom in 2023, but his time in Riyadh was plagued by injury, only playing seven matches for the Blue Wave during the one-and-a-half years he was there.
After calling time on his tenure in the Middle East, Neymar signed for the Peixe, but according to The Athletic, there is a longer-term vision behind this transfer. The same report claims that the reason behind Brazil’s all-time top goalscorer deciding to return to São Paulo is that he can improve his physical and technical condition in order to move back to Europe after 30 June.
It is understood that Neymar’s contract with the two-time Copa Libertadores winners is a short-term deal and he will be looking to orchestrate a move back to Europe before the commencement of the 2025/26 season, most likely to Barcelona.
The Mogi das Cruzes native is alleged to want to be in peak form by the time the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States comes around. It is said that the player’s representative, Pini Zahavi, who represents other Barça stars such as Robert Lewandowski and head coach Hansi Flick, has already begun discussions with the club to welcome back one of their all-time great players.

The aforementioned publication also mentioned that there may be a clause in his Santos contract that could allow him to leave sooner rather than later should a club competing in the FIFA Club World Cup wish to sign him, but it seems that he is giving preference to the Blaugrana.
