Northland Athletic Hall of Famer Olaf Kirsten named women’s soccer coach
Northland College has found their next women’s soccer coach. On Thursday they announced Northland Athletic Hall of Famer Olaf Kirsten will take over the role from Aaron Blanchard, who stepped down earlier this week.
Kirsten was a part of the Lumberjacks’ first men’s varsity program in 1982, and helped them to three national tournaments.
He went on to play semi-professionally after college. Then he began coaching at the high school level, led both Northland men’s and women’s soccer from 2010-2016, and coached for both the New Mexico and Wisconsin Olympic Development Programs.
