The veteran forward was substituted 34 minutes into the Catalan club’s 1-0 win over Porto in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday after sustaining an injury.
In an update released on Thursday afternoon, the Blaugrana confirmed that the ex-Bayern Munich striker has suffered a sprained ankle, and that he will only be back in action when he recovers fully.
“Tests conducted this Thursday morning have revealed that Robert Lewandowski has sprained his left ankle and will be out of action until the injury heals,” it read, according to the club’s official website.
It is likely Lewandowski will now miss Barcelona’s LALIGA game away at Granada this weekend, while there are concerns he could be unavailable until after their ElClasico against Real Madrid at the end of the month.
