TRENDING RUMORS

– Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has issued his club with a five-man wanted list, which includes Martín Zubimendi, Bruno Guimarães, Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz and Marc Guéhi, according to the Times. The Spaniard is looking to freshen things up after a worrying run of just one win in the past 13 games that has seen City fall 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool. Real Sociedad star Zubimendi, 25, and Newcastle United’s Guimarães, 27, would provide City with cover for the injured Rodri, though both could be problematic. Zubimendi has already rejected a move to Liverpool, while Guimarães could be prohibitively expensive given his importance to the Magpies. Crystal Palace rejected bids of £70m for Guéhi, 24, in the summer, while Musiala and Wirtz, both 21, and who would offer City attacking options, could be difficult to prise from Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is targeting PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani, Gianluca di Marzio reports that AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Juventus are also in for the 26-year-old striker. The Frenchman seems destined to leave Les Parisiens in January having been left out of the past two squads to face Lyon and AS Monaco, and after having scored just two goals in 14 games. Milan have been looking into a loan move for the former Eintracht Frankfurt forward, but PSG are not willing to contribute to his wages. Arsenal are also interested.

OTHER RUMORS

– Injuries are forcing Real Madrid to look for defensive cover in January, and while Trent Alexander-Arnold currently hogs the headlines, Los Blancos could make a shocking move for Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven, according to Relevo. The 23-year-old Dutchman suits the type of player Madrid want — young, fast and dominant. However, Spurs are unlikely to want to part with their star man, which is why Madrid are also looking into Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol and RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba.

– Chelsea are looking for the missing piece of the jigsaw to help them fight for the Premier League title, a consistent No. 9, with Internazionale’s Lautaro Martínez the primary target, according to Ekrem Konur. Moreover, it is suggested the Blues could even offer three players — Carney Chukwuemeka, Benoît Badiashile, and Mykhailo Mudryk — plus a fee, to help persuade the Italians to part with their talisman.

– Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is seeking a loan move back to Italy to reignite his season, according to Footmercato. The 27-year-old has played just four times for Arne Slot’s side, and Napoli and Internazionale are contemplating a temporary switch. Fiorentina are also interested.

World’s richest soccer player is worth more than Ronaldo and Messi combined

World’s richest soccer player is worth more than Ronaldo and Messi combined

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been two of the world’s most highly paid soccer players in the modern era – yet the value of their combined net worths isn’t even a fraction of one former Chelsea prospect’s.

The two icons of the beautiful game have had illustrious careers within their own rights, with 37-year-old Messi capturing endless trophies during his time with Barcelona, PSG and Inter Miami, while Ronaldo has crafted an equally as impressive resume with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus and Al-Nassr.

With eight Ballon d’Ors, 12 league titles, four Champions Leagues and a World Cup to his name, website Celebrity Net Worth report that Messi has racked up an impressive net worth of around $850million. Meanwhile, Ronaldo – with his five Ballon d’Ors and seven league titles – is estimated to have a net worth of around $800m.

However, even if you add their two figures together to create a total wealth of $1.66billion, it doesn’t come close to the substantial reported $20bn net worth of Faiq Bolkiah – which is a staggering 12 times the total of Ronaldo and Messi’s combined. But what do we know about the 26-year-old billionaire who couldn’t cut it in the Premier League?

The nephew of the Sultan Brunei and one of several heirs to a $251bn fortune, Bolkiah was born in Los Angeles, but kicked off his soccer career at youth level with Newbury before bouncing around the academies of Southampton, Chelsea and Leicester City – never making a senior appearance.

The left-winger then made the move to Maritimo in 2020 to sign his first professional contract, but once again never featured for the first team – playing just a single game in the U23s before moving on to Thailand’s Chonburi the following year. Bolkiah enjoyed 32 games in total for the club, scoring two goals and creating four assists, before switching allegiance to Ratchaburi in 2023 – where he still plies his trade to this day.

Holding both American and Bruneian citizenship, Bolkiah has also represented the latter on international duty six times – scoring a single goal for his efforts. While he never managed to quite make it in the Premier League, he played alongside the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham at youth level for Chelsea, as well as Ruben Sammut, who claimed that academy players would remind him of his wealth every day.

As per The Athletic, Sammut said: “You would never ever have thought he was something like the 12th in line to the throne. You would not have thought of him as royalty. He was a humble guy, trying every day like every academy player. We used to joke he didn’t need to play football but he wanted to play because he loved football.

“It wasn’t a regular thing we mentioned. It was that typical banter, saying he is royalty, saying, ‘what’s he doing playing with us?’ But we all knew deep down how much he wanted to play, so it was more good-willed passing comments.”

4 Out Of 4: Cardoso Hails Sundowns’ Quality | Soccer Laduma

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says the quality of his players guided the side to victory over Richards Bay.

Sundowns cemented top spot in the Betway Premiership after defeating Richards Bay 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Portuguese tactician was happy to get maximum points after the tough conditions at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.

“Tough game, I’m happy obviously for the result and the satisfaction of watching our fans happy and the work our players did but very difficult conditions to play, the pitch very dry,” Cardoso said on SuperSport.

“It was obvious that many moments we wanted to play but difficult to play, anyway we had the attitude, the patience and the quality in certain moments to define the game. It’s important that you use your moments.

“Obviously we can do better but praise the players for the effort, the commitment and the attitude to keep on playing on very difficult conditions.”

Cardoso also explained their approach to the last three games and dealing with their opponents long-ball tactics.

“We would like to be very aggressive in the moment we lose the ball, to attack immediately the ball. The question is, in the last three games we played in the championship, the teams don’t hold the ball, they just want to kick it in the front,” he continued.

“So it’s very difficult, when you want to press, they are already putting the ball on the flanks or at the back of your defence. It’s quite tricky, so we need also to understand how tricky the situations can be, deal with them.

“Don’t be naive, because when you’re naive, you will suffer goals from this kind of a game. Very difficult, we needed to be very active in rest defence to balance the team and we did it and need to continue, in the right games we will be able to be strong to win the ball when we lose it.”

Does Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ex-Agent Jorge Mendes Owns the Globe Soccer Awards? Truth Revealed After CR7’s ‘Unfair’ Ballon d’Or Claims Supporting Vinicius Jr

Does Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ex-Agent Jorge Mendes Owns the Globe Soccer Awards? Truth Revealed After CR7’s ‘Unfair’ Ballon d’Or Claims Supporting Vinicius Jr

The world of football never lacks drama, does it? Recently, fans have been buzzing about the idea that Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo‘s former agent, secretly owns the prestigious Globe Soccer Awards. This chatter heated up after Ronaldo, famously unfiltered, expressed that Vinícius Júnior was snubbed for the Ballon d’Or. Ronaldo’s opinion quickly made headlines, leading to debates about fairness in football awards, and somehow, Mendes’ name got dragged into the mix.

While Jorge Mendes is undeniably one of the most powerful figures in soccer management, claiming he runs the Globe Soccer Awards is a whole different ball game. Fans are connecting dots that don’t exist, likely fueled by Mendes’ dominance in the Best Agent category over the years. But let’s pump the brakes and dive into the facts about who truly controls these awards and why the rumors are just noise.

The real owners of the Globe Soccer Awards

First things first: Jorge Mendes does not own the Globe Soccer Awards. This prestigious event, established in 2010, is organized by Globe Soccer, a company founded by Tommaso Bendoni and co-owned by Riccardo Silva. Silva’s investment firm, Silva International Investments, acquired a major stake in the organization in 2017. The awards have since expanded their reach, gaining international recognition for celebrating football excellence in every aspect, from players and coaches to agents and clubs.

Nowhere on the official Globe Soccer website or public records is there any mention of Jorge Mendes as an owner or stakeholder. Sure, Mendes is a frequent attendee, and his trophy shelf has plenty of Best Agent accolades from the event. But that’s simply because he’s exceptional at his job. The Globe Soccer Awards are decided through a transparent process that combines global fan votes and evaluations from a panel of international football experts. So, while Mendes has benefited greatly from the awards, he doesn’t control them.

Ronaldo’s comments added fuel to the fire

The speculation linking Mendes to the Globe Soccer Awards ramped up after Cristiano Ronaldo dropped his take on the Ballon d’Or results at the recent awards ceremony in Dubai. Ronaldo boldly stated that Vinícius Júnior deserved the coveted prize over Manchester City’s Rodri, who ultimately won it. “In my opinion, he [Vinícius] deserved to win the golden ball. It was unfair,” Ronaldo said, sparking debates among fans and pundits alike.

This isn’t the first time Ronaldo has spoken his mind, and it certainly won’t be the last. However, his remarks about the Ballon d’Or had an unintended consequence: they reignited rumors of favoritism at other awards shows, including the Globe Soccer Awards. Some fans even suggested Mendes might have an inside track because of his history with Ronaldo and his frequent wins.

But these are just wild theories without a shred of evidence. So now, let’s stick to the facts and leave the conspiracy theories on the bench. The Globe Soccer Awards celebrate the best in football, and while they’ll always spark debates, one thing’s for sure—ownership isn’t up for question.
