Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Globe Soccer Awards in Givenchy Harness Suit With ‘Wife’ Georgina Rodriguez in Lace Look

Cristiano Ronaldo piqued interests while accepting the Global Soccer Award in Dubai on Friday. The football star picked up two awards, named the Best Middle Eastern Player as well as the Top Goalscorer of All Time.

For the event, Ronaldo, who plays for the Al-Nassr team, wore a pearl grey wool suit from Givenchy. The jacket of the suit featured two slit pockets as well as a harness design that looped around the back of the neck. A slimmer fit, the jacket also notably included a U-Lock metal embellishment on the harness.

Metallic locks were first introduced as a house code at Givenchy in 2020 under Matthew Williams. He was inspired by the tradition of leaving padlocks on Paris’ Le Pont des Arts. He used locks on jackets, boots as well as bags often, becoming one of his signatures. Williams left the company in 2023.

How Many Globe Soccer Awards Does Lionel Messi Have Compared to Cristiano Ronaldo’s?

How Many Globe Soccer Awards Does Lionel Messi Have Compared to Cristiano Ronaldo’s?

When it comes to soccer, the Lionel Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo rivalry has always been legendary. From the El-Clasico clashes in La Liga to their International stage performance, fans always find a way to spark this eternal rivalry. With the duo dominating the soccer world for almost 15 years now, their rivalry is not just limited to performances at their respective clubs or international level; it extends to prestigious awards like the Ballon d’Or or, recently, the Globe Soccer Awards.

2010 was the very first year when the Globe Soccer Award was announced, with only 3 categories. In 2011, it expanded to 6 categories, with Cristiano Ronaldo winning the first best player of the year award. Messi won his first one in 2015. Fast forward to today, Ronaldo has won the award 6 times (2011, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), making him the player with the most awards. Meanwhile, Messi was heavily marginalized here, earning only 1 (2015) to his name.

When it comes to the Globe Soccer, Ronaldo has dominated every other player including Lionel Messi. Each of his 6 awards portrays his consistency and unwavering commitment to the sport. The Portuguese star is known for his work ethic and competitive spirit. The guy who is synonymous with greatness has surely proved why he is the most decorated player when it comes to awards like the Globe Soccer Awards.

While Ronaldo has dominated Messi in the award, the rivalry between the two remains one of the best to ever exist. Their legacies and tremendous success on and off the field are what it means to be the best.

In the end, the Globe Soccer Awards is one of the few stages that was fortunate to witness the eternal rivalry of arguably the greatest players of all time. The upcoming generations will remember the accolades and the efforts behind them.

Beyond Messi and Ronaldo: Non-biased factor of Globe Soccer Awards

The fierce rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo going on for the past 15 years has dominated every aspect, both on and off the field. The goals, assists, trophies, and even awards. The duo dominated several awards including the prestigious Ballon d’Or, FIFA the Best, and many more. However, it was not the case with the Globe Soccer Awards, which offered a rather non-biased system of awarding the players.

Unlike the Ballon d’Or which has a controversial voting system consisting of media-biased journalists, Globe Soccer Awards has a transparent voting system that consists of a panel of soccer experts. The voting system ensures a broader process making it hard for a single player to win it several times no matter how popular he is.

While both players have always been strong contenders for the award, their global stature and popularity didn’t help them claim the award. The deserving and able candidate bagged the award, like the 2020 Globe soccer award won by Robert Lewandowski. Similarly, 2022 Karim Benzema, 2023 Erling Haaland and recently in 2024 Vinicius Jr. These players were awarded regardless of the Ballon d’Or winner in the respective years.

The Globe Soccer Awards have provided a platform that ensures a non-biased way of recognition letting fans and players know the true meaning and importance of the award.

Betway Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns moved six points clear of Orlando Pirates with a 2-0 win over Richards Bay FC on Saturday afternoon.

Result: Richards Bay 0-2 Mamelodi Sundowns

Date: 28 December 2024

Venue: King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium

Sundowns made six changes from their last-minute win against Richards Bay, as goalkeeper Denis Onyango, Grant Kekana, Thapelo Morena, Terrence Mashego, Bathusi Aubaas and Arthur Sales were brought in.

The Brazilians were looking to break the lines in the opening exchanges after Lucas Ribeiro Costa came close with a diagonal shot that moss narrowly wide after he went through on goal.

Masandawana eventually beat the offside trap on 18 minutes after Sales opened the scoring with a low finish from a defence splitting pass by Ribeiro.

Richards Bay were threatening to equalise after that as just before the half-hour mark Yamela Mbuthuma was unfortunate with a diagonal header that lobbed Onyango but missed the far top corner by a whisker.

Miguel Cardoso’s charges slowed down the pace of the game in the closing stages of the first stanza, with spells of possession but they could not create chances, as they settled for a narrow lead at halftime.

Richards Bay were spirited from the break as seven minutes into the second stanza Mbuthuma came very close to making it 1-1 with a free header that crashed the crossbar from a cross by Lwandile Mabuya.

With Sundowns subdued, the Portuguese coach changed his attacking formation on the hour-mark, as Iqraam Rayners replaced Sales and Tashreeq Matthews came on for Kobamelo Kodisang.

The Tshwane giants clicked better going forward as four minutes later Costa doubled their lead with a curling low shot that found the bottom corner.

The Natal Rich Boyz threw in experienced strikers Justice Figuareido and Thabiso Kutumela in the last 20 minutes to reinforce their attack.

Siphiwe Mcineka almost pulled a goal back for the hosts in the dying minutes with a header at the back post that came off the post.

Masandawana were comfortable in the tail end as they stretched their lead at the top of the log to six points, ahead of second-placed Orlando Pirates, who have two games in hand.

Here’s how they lined up:

Richards Bay: 16. Magoola, 22. Mabuya, 5. Allan, 25. Mcineka, 3. Ndaba, 6. Mthethwa, 17. Gumede, 36. Zikhali, 20. Mthembu, 45. Ntsundwana, 9. Mbuthuma.

“The storm will finish” – Cristiano Ronaldo backs Amorim to survive Man United crisis

“The storm will finish” – Cristiano Ronaldo backs Amorim to survive Man United crisis

Ruben Amorim has had a rough start to life at Manchester United, losing five of his first ten matches at the helm. The latest came on Boxing Day as United were defeated – for a third consecutive time in all competitions – 2-0 by Wolves at the Molineux. Nevertheless, former Red Devils Cristiano Ronaldo has backed his Portuguese compatriot to survive the ongoing crisis at the club.

“He did a fantastic job in Portugal with my Sporting,” the 39-year-old said on Friday at the Globe Soccer Awards. “But as I said before, the Premier League is a different beast. It’s a different league. It’s the most competitive league in the world. It will be tough. The storm will continue but the storm will finish, and the sun will rise”. Despite a bittersweet send-off, Ronaldo insisted that he wants to see his former side back at the top. “Fingers crossed that things will be good with him and I hope the best for Manchester United because this is a club that I still love”.

Speaking on Man United’s struggles, the Al Nassr forward stressed that managers are not to be blamed for the club’s downfall. “They need, I said this one year and a half ago, and I will continue to say it: The problem is not the coaches, it’s like… I always give this example… it’s like an aquarium. If you have the fish inside and he’s sick and you take him out and you fix the problem and you put him again in an aquarium you will be sick again. The problem of Manchester United is the same. The problem is not always the coach. It’s much more than that,” he added.

Asked if the situation at Man United is the same as when he left, the Portuguese star replied: “100 per cent. If I were the owner of the club I would make things clear and adjust what I think is bad there”. Ronaldo concluded as he dropped a big hint of his plans post-retirement. “I’m still very young, I have so many plans and dreams ahead. Mark my words I will be the owner of a big club, for sure.”

What Are Globe Soccer Awards and how are the winners selected? know here as Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Vini Jr all in contention in 2024

What Are Globe Soccer Awards and how are the winners selected? know here as Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Vini Jr all in contention in 2024

The Globe Soccer Awards were founded in 2010 with the goal of recognizing the best figures in the football world. Every January, the awards ceremony is held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, bringing together some of the biggest names in the sport. Organized by Globe Soccer, the event has grown in prominence over the years, celebrating a wide range of stakeholders in football, from players to coaches, agents, directors, and more.

When the Globe Soccer Awards first launched in 2010, they only included a few categories: Best Agent, Best Director, and a Career Achievement Award. Over the years, however, the ceremony has expanded to include 12 main categories that now reflect the diversity of talent and contributions within the world of football.

 The Jury and Selection Process

The selection process for the Globe Soccer Awards involves a diverse committee, or “jury,” which is comprised of various stakeholders from the football world. This jury includes:

– Former players such as Francesco Totti, Ian Rush, and Luis Figo
– Current players like Alexia Putellas
– Coaches including Antonio Conte and Fabio Capello
– Club executives, businessmen, and even a member of the Dubai Sports Council

These jurors bring a wide range of expertise and experience to the process of choosing the winners in each category.

 Categories and Quirks

The Globe Soccer Awards feature several unique categories, with some distinctions between the men’s and women’s awards. Notably:

– There are separate categories for Best Forward and Best Midfielder in the men’s side, but no category for Best Defender.
– There is a Best Coach category for men, but no equivalent for women, which has been a topic of discussion in recent years.

This year’s ceremony, held on December 27, will continue the tradition of recognizing the very best players, coaches, agents, and other figures in football, underscoring the Globe Soccer Awards’ important role in the global football community.

Saka out until March after hamstring surgery

Saka out until March after hamstring surgery

Bukayo Saka has undergone surgery on a hamstring injury and is set to be sidelined until March, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed on Friday.

The 23-year-old sustained a tear to the muscle in his right leg during the first half of last Saturday’s 5-1 win at Crystal Palace.

“He had a procedure, everything went well,” Arteta told a news conference after Arsenal’s win over Ipswich. “But unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks.”

Kai Havertz’s 23rd-minute close-range finish was enough to move Arteta’s side up into second place, six points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Arteta was more upbeat about Raheem Sterling’s prognosis after Arsenal initially feared the winger would also be sidelined for a lengthy period due to a knee problem.

“The news with Raz I think is better,” he said. “We have to see this week how he evolves, but we expected the knee injury to probably take longer than the way the knee has evolved the last few days. That is good because we need him.”
