For someone who was essentially roped in as a third-choice goalkeeper on transfer deadline day in September last year, Chaine has not only made the Pirates number one jersey his own – but he has found a place in the hearts of Pirates’ most ardent supporters.
The 26-year-old, playing in his second consecutive cup final, proved to be the difference for Pirates as he made a number of impressive saves, first in regulation time and then in the penalty shootout that ensued.
In the shoot-out, Chaine denied Bongani Zungu, Junior Mendieta and Teboho Mokoena as Pirates sealed a 3-1 win to retain their MTN8 title.

“I really don’t know how to answer this question,” he told journalists after the match.
“Anyone can compare but for me I just focus on being myself and trying to work as hard as I can to improve and get better,” he continued.
