Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Lucas Ribeiro Costa has revealed the secret behind his impressive form for the Brazilians this season.
The Brazilian started the 2024/25 campaign exactly the way he began his maiden campaign in the Betway Premiership – like a house on fire.
Injury would blight the last campaign; however, in this campaign Ribeiro has been unrelenting both in terms of scoring goals and setting up his teammates.
With six goals and four assists in 11 matches this season, Ribeiro has been in inspired form and credits it to the assistance of his teammates both on and off the field.
“Well, it’s also a great honour to receive compliments from your teammates. I am also fortunate to be part of the Sundowns structure to be here with the great team. Well, they actually helped me a lot to play well and win for sure,” he told journalists at the Carling Knockout press conference on Thursday.

“Last season we won the league and [the] AFL. It was with the assistance of my teammates. And how they assist me on the pitch and also off the pitch, so it’s always a marvellous feeling because it shows the hard work we all do and give inside the pitch and outside the pitch and I’m really happy to be part of or to be in South Africa to play the way I’ve done, with what I’ve achieved last season and how I’ve actually started the season and for sure, with expectations to continue to help the team so that we can achieve our greater goals and objectives as well as that of the team,” he said via a translator.
