With the South African Revenue Service having placed Royal AM under curatorship, it’s believed the club has written to the Premier Soccer League for assistance.

Sources close to the club have revealed that management is working tirelessly to secure the team’s participation for the current season while they resolve their tax issues with SARS. The plan, according to insiders, is to clean up their debts before selling the club.
“The club is looking at all possible ways of salvaging the situation right now. As much as they are negotiating with SARS they are also asking for help from the PSL so that at least they can finish the season and not disturb the running of the league. It is believed that the PSL is also looking at his they could probably help out so that it doesn’t disturb the proper running of the league. They (PSL) are worried with the sponsors and the broadcasters as they already have plans for the whole season and if one team pulls out the project won’t be visible enough the way the agreement was signed. So with Royal AM writing to the league there could be a solution at the end of the day,” a source revealed to the Siya crew.

Meanwhile, indications are that a major concern for the club is the payment of player salaries. Sources have revealed that the PSL may consider using the club’s monthly grant to cover these expenses.
“The other thing the club has apparently requested is for the PSL to assist them with paying of the salaries for all the team members including management, technical team, players and even the support team as the issue is being looked into. They want to avoid to bring the league into disrepute,” the source told Soccer Laduma.
In addition to their financial struggles with SARS, Royal AM is facing a FIFA-imposed transfer ban due to unpaid debts of nearly R15 million owed to two of their former players, Ricardo Nascimento and Samir Nurkovic. Furthermore, the club has not paid its players and staff their December salaries, which is believed to have prompted many players to seek exits as free agents.
The Siya crew reached out to the PSL for comment, but no response was received by the time of publication.
