The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss has endured a difficult start at the Red Castle, but not only on the field.
Mokwena has been on the receiving end of criticism following recent comments he made regarding the standard of refereeing in the country, and playing in empty stadiums.
After his comments did the rounds, the professional body in charge of the Botola Inwi said Mokwena’s remarks “do not serve the development of national football” and justified the low attendances at matches by pointing to the “temporary repairs” a number of stadia in the country are under.
Seeking to make himself clear in his most recent press conference, the 37-year-old insisted that he appreciates the efforts being made in Morocco to grow the country’s domestic league.
“I am in favour of how to develop the professional championship,” he stated, according to El Botola.
“I cannot be here and give negative opinions about the championship. I do not want people to misunderstand me regarding the statements I made. I appreciate the efforts being made in Morocco.
“The tournament is very difficult and requires a lot of physical effort. The young players are still young and it is difficult for them to adapt quickly.
