Despite making a rare appearance for Bafana Bafana over the weekend, Monnapule Saleng’s situation at Orlando Pirates remains uncertain, with sources indicating that his ongoing dispute with the club is far from resolved.
Saleng featured in Bafana’s 1-1 draw against Egypt in an African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at the Free State Stadium, marking his first competitive match in months. The speedy winger had been absent from Pirates’ squad due to what is believed to be a contractual disagreement with the club.

While some fans had hoped his return to action with the national team would signal a breakthrough in his club situation, insiders suggest otherwise.
The 26-year-old could remain sidelined at Pirates for an extended period as his dispute with the club drags on.
Last week, Saleng’s representatives, P Management Sports, issued a statement addressing the speculation surrounding the player’s absence.
The statement emphasised that the matter concerns employer-employee relations and requires resolution through appropriate legal and professional channels.
It also reaffirmed Saleng’s commitment to securing a fair outcome while maintaining confidentiality regarding the dispute.
For now, it appears that Saleng’s future at Pirates remains in limbo, with no immediate resolution in sight.

As the situation unfolds, the talented winger will be hoping for a positive outcome that allows him to return to club action and continue his career without further interruptions.
“It’s a very complicated situation, and unfortunately, it is yet to be resolved. So, it (playing for Bafana) doesn’t change anything,” said the source.
