SEARCY — A second-half goal by Erik Oliveira was the difference as the Harding men’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Dallas Baptist University on Thursday.
The Bisons (1-3-1) played a tight, physical match against the Patriots (3-1-0) at Stevens Soccer Complex. Both teams were scoreless after a back-and-forth first half.
The lone goal came in the 51st minute when Oliveira found the back of the net off an assist from Luis Zazueta. The Patriots’ offense was stifled for the most part by a stout Harding defense and goalkeeper Rinner Stewart, who had five saves on the night.
DBU outshot Harding 13-10, with the Patriots having six shots on goal compared to Bisons’ one. DBU also earned more corner kicks with nine, while Harding had three.
Harding will be back in action on Saturday, Sep. 20th, at 1 p.m., hosting Texas-Tyler at Stevens Soccer Complex.
