(ANSA) – ROME, JAN 9 – Napoli are Serie A’s ‘winter
champions’, the purely symbolic title that goes to the team that
is top at the season’s half-way stage, after beating Sampdoria
2-0 away on Sunday.
The victory also enabled the Naples side to stretch their lead
at the top of the table to seven points as AC Milan were held
2-2 by AS Roma at San Siro.
Napoli have 44 points from 17 games, while Milan have 37, as do
Juventus after they beat Udinese 1-0 at home.
Inter are three points further back in fourth place after being
held 2-2 at promoted Monza. (ANSA).
