(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 25 – Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri
said Monday that he has no intention of dropping Poland
goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny after his error-strewn performance
in his side’s 4-2 defeat at Sassuolo on Saturday.
“Szczęsny is Juventus’s first-choice keeper and he will play
tomorrow,” Allegri told a press conference ahead of Tuesday’s
Serie A game against surprise package Lecce in Turin.
Among other things, Szczęsny attempted a dangerous pass in
stoppage time on Saturday which led to defender Federico Gatti
scoring a comical own goal.
“Gatti should be tranquil too,” said Allegri.
“It happens that you make mistakes during your career and you
have to stay serene”.
Juve have dropped to fourth in the standings with 10 points from
five games, five behind leaders Inter, while Lecce are one point
ahead of them in third after continuing their strong start with
a 1-0 win over Genoa on Friday. (ANSA).
